Therapy for Black Women, by Someone Who Truly Understands
This isn’t just a specialization—it’s a calling rooted in understanding the lived experiences of Black women navigating a world that often demands more than it gives.
I See You Because I’ve Been Where You Are
As Black women, we are often conditioned—not nurtured—to believe that our worth is tied to what we do for others. Society teaches us to be hyper-independent, self-sacrificing, and strong at all costs. But here’s the thing: that strength, while admirable, can also be the very thing keeping you from the joy, rest, and fulfillment you deserve.
I’m not just a therapist—I’m someone who gets it. My work is deeply informed by the historical and societal context of how Black women are raised, the traumas we endure, and the ways we’re taught to navigate the world. I see racism as traumatic. I see poverty as traumatic. These experiences shape how we think, feel, and show up in every relationship—including the one we have with ourselves.

What You Can Expect From Me
Therapy with me is a partnership. My job isn’t to sit back as a blank slate while you pour your heart out. I’m here to challenge you—with love, compassion, and unwavering support.
You’ll find that I:
Challenge limiting beliefs and the stories you’ve been told about yourself.
Help you understand how societal conditioning has shaped your inner critic.
Empower you to reconnect with the parts of yourself that you’ve had to silence to survive.
Hold space for the big feelings, while guiding you toward clarity and growth.
I believe the therapeutic relationship is the foundation for transformation. That means showing up authentically, being fully present, and walking alongside you as you do the work. Together, we’ll rewrite the narratives that no longer serve you and create space for the life you truly want.
i bring over a decade of experience as a licensed clinical social worker, trauma therapist, and supervisor for associate-level clinicians. My training includes
mindfulness & DBT
EMDR,
Internal Family Systems (IFS), and somatic approaches to healing trauma.
But my expertise isn’t limited to certifications and methods—it’s rooted in a deep understanding of how systemic oppression, racism, and generational trauma impact mental health. These aren’t abstract concepts for me—they’re the realities I’ve helped hundreds of clients navigate and heal from.
modalities:
- Racism is traumatic, period.
- Poverty? Also a trauma we can't ignore.
Let's not gloss over the trauma of just existing within these systems.
People gravitate toward becoming their best selves in environments of safety, connection, and validation. Finding your sense of purpose and meaning is not just self-help jargon; it’s a critical part of moving through life’s challenges, not just “getting over” them.
Your internal narrative is more than a personal belief; it’s a lived reality shaped by external influences like family, society, and media. Yet, you have the power to re-author this narrative.
The responsibility for your healing journey is yours to shoulder. It’s a harsh truth, but it’s also liberating.
Joy isn’t just a fleeting feeling; it’s a form of resistance, an act of reclaiming your space and spirit.
Transformation is within reach, but it takes intentional work and practice. Clinging to elements that don’t serve your true self leads to suffering; letting go is an alignment with your authenticity.
So there it is, no holds barred. These aren’t just my beliefs; these are truths that guide our work together in challenging traditional therapeutic norms.
truths that i hold….
Healing Isn’t Just Personal—It’s Revolutionary
For too long, Black women have carried the weight of the world on their shoulders, often at the expense of their own well-being. I do this work because I believe healing isn’t just a gift to yourself—it’s a revolutionary act.
When you show up for yourself, when you learn to set boundaries, when you reclaim your voice and your worth, you’re not just changing your life. You’re changing the narrative for the next generation. This is about more than therapy—it’s about liberation.
Are You Ready to Challenge the Beliefs Holding You Back?
oh, and being ready isn’t a feeling; it’s a choice.
Therapy with me is about more than just coping—it’s about thriving. It’s about learning to rest without guilt, to embrace your emotions without judgment, and to see yourself as inherently worthy of care.
Whether through therapy intensives or ongoing sessions, my goal is to create a space where you feel safe to explore, challenged to grow, and empowered to step into the fullness of who you are.
